Wooting 60U v2 Aluminum Bright Silver – 60% Gaming Keyboard with Split Spacebar and 8kHz
Compact 60% layout in aluminum housing
The Wooting 60U v2 Aluminum Bright Silver combines a compact 60% ANSI US layout with a robust aluminum case and a flexible split spacebar. At 945 g, this variant brings a lot of substance to the table - once put down, it stays there quite convincingly. Hall effect sensors not only detect whether a key is pressed, but also how far. This makes functions such as rapid trigger, adjustable actuation and analog controller input possible. Despite the solid aluminum case, the keyboard remains pleasantly compact at 305 x 115 mm and leaves plenty of room for the mouse to move.
Bright Silver Aluminum Case
The aluminum case in Bright Silver is the decisive difference to the lighter plastic version. The metal construction provides a particularly solid base and brings the total weight to 945 g. In addition to the striking silver look, the case also changes the acoustic and haptic behavior of the keyboard: less light plastic feel, more mass and a rich appearance on the desk.
Unmatched Performance
True 8 kHz Polling combines a polling rate of 8000 Hz with synchronous high-speed scanning of the keyboard. The input latency is less than 0.125 ms. Tachyon Mode prioritizes processing for fast key inputs. Especially in fast-paced FPS games and competitive titles, this creates an immediate connection between keystroke and action.
The Power of Analog
The Hall Effect technology continuously measures how far a key is pressed. Instead of an unchangeable mechanical switching point, it can be used to determine when a key should react. The trigger point can be set in fine 0.1 mm increments per key. WASD particularly sensitive, other keys a little lower? No problem – that's exactly what the system is designed for.
Split Spacebar
The Split Spacebar divides the area normally occupied by a long space bar into several separately usable keys. This creates additional input options directly under the thumb without increasing the compact 60% format. Wootility can be used to assign space, modifiers, layer changes, shortcuts or gaming functions, for example. Especially with such a compact layout, additional space for functions is quite welcome.
Rapid Trigger
Rapid Trigger does not work with a fixed reset point. Instead, activation and deactivation react dynamically to the movement of the button. As soon as a button moves back, it can be deactivated and immediately reactivated when pressed down again. This reduces unnecessary key travel and enables fast consecutive inputs – especially interesting for changes of direction and counter-strafing in FPS games.
Adjustable Actuation
The individual trigger point can be set per button. With a precision of 0.1 mm, it can be determined how far a key must be pressed before an input is registered. Sensitive gaming keys and deliberately less sensitive function keys can thus be easily combined in the same profile.
Lekker Tikken Medium Switches
The Wooting 60U v2 uses pre-practised Lekker Tikken Medium Hall Effect switches. They are hot-swappable and offer a full 4.0mm of key travel. The closed bottom case and long spring are designed for controlled movement and a deeper, more muffled sound. The result is a rich typing feel that pairs well with the solid aluminum chassis.
PBT Keycaps
The pre-configured ANSI US version comes with PBT keycaps. The lightly textured surface provides a good grip and is designed for intensive use. Translucent legends allow the individually configurable per-key RGB lighting to shine through. The keycap configuration in this version is already matched to the split spacebar.
FR4 Switch Plate
The FR4 switch plate combines a stable base with controlled flex. It keeps key movements precise and reduces unwanted rebound. At the same time, FR4 contributes to a softer, somewhat more subdued sound character – an exciting counterpoint to the solid aluminum housing.
Bottom Case Dampening
Even with the inner workings, metal was not simply screwed around a circuit board and called it a day. The internal damping reduces resonances and specifically influences the sound of the keyboard. Together with FR4 plate and other acoustic layers, a more controlled sound image is created.
PET Film Layer
An additional layer of PET film is located below the switches. It reduces sharper frequencies and contributes to a cleaner, rounder sound profile. Especially with the aluminum housing, the tuning of the individual damping layers is relevant, as metal transmits resonances differently than plastic.
Rappy Snappy
Rappy Snappy continuously compares two selected keys with each other and keeps the lower key active. A typical area of application are the A and D keys in FPS games. When changing direction, the keyboard can react immediately to the stronger input.
Snappy Tappy (SOCD)
Snappy Tappy controls how two keys pressed at the same time are prioritized. By default, the last button pressed can be prioritized. In addition, absolute priorities are available for one of the two buttons, as well as a neutral setting where neither of the two inputs is registered when the button is pressed at the same time.
DKS (Dynamic Keystroke)
Dynamic Keystroke can combine up to four different actions with a single key. The key is based on the position of the button within its travel path. Actions can be triggered when you press down for the first time, when you press it completely, and during different phases of release.
Remap
Wootility can be used to freely reassign keys and set up additional input layers. This allows the compact 60% layout to be significantly expanded in terms of functionality. Media controls, shortcuts or rarely used functions, for example, can be placed on an additional layer.
Mod Tap
Mod Tap assigns two different functions to a single button. A short press of the button can trigger Action A, while holding down activates Action B. The required hold duration can be configured individually. Especially together with the Split Spacebar, this opens up interesting possibilities for additional thumb functions.
Controller Input
Hall effect sensors enable analog controller inputs in addition to classic keyboard inputs. The key path can be used in racing games, for example, for finely graded throttle, brake or steering commands. Instead of pure on/off behavior, this creates an input that is more like an analog controller.
Toggle Key
Toggle Key turns a held action into a toggle switch. Pressing it once activates the function, another button press deactivates it again. This can be practical when sprinting, crouching, auto-walk or push-to-talk and reduces permanent pressing.
Wootility
Wootility forms the central interface for configuring the Wooting 60U v2. Rapid triggers, actuation points, key assignments, split spacebar, RGB lighting and other functions can be individually adapted. The software is available as an application and browser-based. Up to four profiles can be saved directly on the keyboard and then used without permanently open software.

Conclusion & Recommendation
The Wooting 60U v2 Aluminum Bright Silver combines the well-known Hall Effect technology of the 60U series with a solid aluminum case and a flexible split spacebar. True 8 kHz, Rapid Trigger, individually adjustable trigger points and the extensive Wootility functions are particularly aimed at gamers who want to fine-tune their input behavior. At 945 g, the aluminum version also stands much more firmly on the table than the plastic version - and Bright Silver sets a striking contrast to the usual black gaming keyboards. If you're looking for a compact Hall effect gaming keyboard with an aluminum case and split spacebar, then you won't go wrong with the Wooting 60U v2.
