Description

Wooting 80U Ghost US-ANSI - Gray Hall Effect Gaming Keyboard with True 8 kHz

Gaming & Everyday Life

The Wooting 80HE Ghost combines the compact 80% layout with a subtle gray appearance and performance-oriented Hall Effect technology. This pre-built variant comes in the US-ANSI layout, with Lekker L60 V2 Linear60 switches and ARM platform. The magnetic switches continuously measure the actual key travel. This allows the activation point of each key to be adjusted with 0.1 mm precision. At 346 x 142 mm, the Wooting 80U Ghost takes up less space than a full-size keyboard, but retains function keys, arrow keys, and important navigation keys. The gray Ghost design stands out pleasantly from the usual black gaming keyboards without looking like an RGB spaceship. Interchangeable silicone feet allow for angles of 2.8°, 6°, or 10°. Per-key RGB and the separate LED bar set matching lighting accents. As a pre-built version, the keyboard is delivered fully assembled, including keycaps.

Technology & Configuration

Inside, Lekker L60 V2 Hall-Effect switches work with magnetic position sensing. Sensors on the PCB continuously measure the distance to the magnet in the switch. As a result, the Wooting 80U Ghost not only knows on and off, but also the exact position of each key. Rapid Trigger, Adjustable Actuation, Rappy Snappy, Snappy Tappy, DKS and Controller Input work on this basis. If you prefer to tune your keyboard exactly rather than simply turn on "Gaming Mode", you will find plenty of material to play around with here. For typing feel and acoustics, Wooting combines a polycarbonate switch plate with a silicone gasket mount. The silicone gasket decouples the PCBA and switch plate, while the PC plate attenuates higher frequencies. Screw-in stabilizers support larger keys and can be swapped out for many third-party models.

True 8 kHz Polling Rate

The Wooting 80U Ghost works with an 8 kHz scanning rate and True 8 kHz polling. Key inputs are captured and transmitted up to 8000 times per second. The input latency is around 0.125 ms. For True 8 kHz, Tachyon Mode is activated in Wootility. The keyboard prioritizes its computing power for key capture. RGB brightness and effects are reduced or deactivated so that input processing is in the foreground.

The Power of Analog

Hall effect sensors continuously detect the actual pressure depth of each key. This enables variable activation points and functions that can perform different actions depending on the key travel. This makes the Wooting 80U Ghost fundamentally different from a classic mechanical keyboard with a simple on/off switching point.

Rapid Trigger

Rapid Trigger does not have a fixed reset point. As soon as a configured key moves up, it can be deactivated. When pressed down again, it is immediately reactivated. This reduces unnecessary key travel during fast movements and repeated inputs. This behavior is particularly noticeable in FPS games and counter-strafing.

Adjustable Actuation

The activation point can be configured with 0.1 mm precision per key. This allows important movement keys to react particularly early, while other keys require a longer path.

On LED Bar

The integrated LED bar has ten segments and can visualize information such as active profiles or the status of Rappy Snappy. Together with the per-key RGB lighting, it creates a nice contrast to the gray Ghost case.

Silicone Gasket Mount

A silicone gasket connects the PCBA and switch plate and absorbs some of the impact energy. This supports a softer typing feel and reduces annoying noise.

PC Switch Plate

The polycarbonate switch plate is more flexible than many metal plates and attenuates some of the higher frequencies. This gives the keyboard a softer and deeper sound character.

Screw-in Stabilizers

Screw-on screw-in stabilizers guide larger keys stably and reduce rattling noise. If necessary, they can be replaced by many screw-in or clip-in stabilizers from other manufacturers.

Ergonomics

The Wooting 80U Ghost has a low front with a case height of 19.4 mm without keycaps and 28.4 mm with OEM keycaps. The basic angle is 2.8°. With the included silicone feet, the keyboard can also be adjusted to 6° or 10°.

Rappy Snappy

Rappy Snappy continuously compares two selected keys and prioritizes the one pressed lower in each case. With A and D, changes of direction can be carried out particularly immediately. Especially with fast FPS movements, this provides this direct feeling, where the keyboard already feels like it knows what should happen next.

Snappy Tappy (SOCD)

Snappy Tappy defines what happens when two selected buttons are pressed at the same time.

  • Last Input Priority prioritizes the last button pressed
  • Absolute Priority X permanently prioritizes button X
  • Absolute Priority Y permanently prioritizes key Y
  • Neutral registers no button when pressed at the same time

DKS (Dynamic Keystroke)

Dynamic Keystroke allows up to four different actions on a single key.

  • Action 1 when the press down begins
  • Action 2 with the button fully pressed
  • Action 3 when releasing after pressing down completely
  • Action 4 when fully releasing

Remap

Remap allows free key assignments and additional input layers. Media control, shortcuts or rarely used actions can be moved to alternative layers.

Mod Tap

Mod Tap assigns two functions to the same button. A short tap performs one action, a longer hold a second. The corresponding time span can be set individually.

Controller Input

The Hall Effect sensors also enable analog controller inputs. In racing games, for example, the pressure depth of a button can be used to fine-tune the throttle or brake, instead of just knowing full throttle and zero.

Toggle Key

Toggle Key turns a function into an on/off switch. Pressing once activates the action, pressing again deactivates it. This is suitable for auto-walking, sprinting, crouching or push-to-talk, among other things.

Wootility

Wootility can be used to configure rapid triggers, activation points, RGB, key mappings and other functions. The software is available as an app and in the browser. Up to four profiles can be saved directly on the Wooting 80U Ghost and then used without the software open.

Intuitive & Powerful

Wootility works for quick basic configuration as well as detailed per-key tuning. This makes the software accessible without artificially curtailing the range of functions for enthusiasts.

Lightweight & Accessible

Configuration is possible via app or browser. Up to four onboard profiles remain stored directly on the keyboard and can be used on different devices.
