The Wooting 60U v2 Preassembled Plastic is a compact, wired 60% gaming keyboard in an ANSI-US layout with a classic non-split spacebar. Hall effect sensors not only detect whether a key is pressed, but also how far. This is exactly where functions such as Rapid Trigger, Adjustable Actuation and Analog Controller Input come from. With dimensions of 305 x 115 mm, there is plenty of room for fast mouse movements - quite pleasant, especially for FPS games. The ABS version weighs around 606 g.
A powerful chip enables True 8 kHz polling with synchronous 8 kHz scanning of all keys. According to the manufacturer, the input speed is around 0.125 ms. The Tachyon Mode in Wootility consistently aligns the keyboard with fast key inputs. Especially in fast shooters, the next input counts more than a particularly elaborate RGB animation.
The Hall Effect technology continuously measures the key travel. This allows the trigger point of each key to be determined individually. Adjustable Actuation allows settings in 0.1 mm increments within the available range. WASD extremely sensitive, other keys deliberately a little lower? Exactly such setups are possible.
Rapid Trigger bases activation and reset on the actual movement of the button instead of a fixed reset point. As soon as a button moves back, it can be deactivated and immediately reactivated when pressed down again. This allows for quick changes of direction and repeated inputs without having to let go of the button completely each time.
Pre-trained Lekker Tikken Medium Hall Effect switches are installed. They are hot-swappable and offer a full 4.0 mm of key travel. The closed bottom case and the construction of the switches are designed for a deeper, more muffled sound. Together with the long spring, it creates a controlled typing feel with stable keystrokes – pleasant when typing and quite appropriate when things get hectic in the game.
This variant deliberately relies on the ABS plastic housing of the 60U v2. The revised case has a fixed strap mount and the characteristic Wooting Wing Piece made of silicone. EPDM damping is used in the lower case area. This clearly distinguishes this plastic version from the heavier aluminum version.
Since this is the pre-configured ANSI version, PBT keycaps are delivered pre-assembled. Their lightly textured surface provides additional grip and is less susceptible to the typical shine of intensively used keycaps. Translucent legends allow the individually configurable per-key RGB lighting to shine through.
The FR4 Switch Plate combines stiffness with controlled flex. It stabilizes key movements and reduces unwanted rebound. At the same time, the material contributes to a softer, more subdued sound character.
Between the PCB and the switch plate is an HD Poron damping system that reduces vibrations and tunes the sound more deeply. A Silicone Friction Fit Pad holds the PCB in place without the need for classic screws and reduces cabinet resonances. Directly under the switches, a PET film layer complements the acoustic structure and dampens higher frequencies. So there are many small details – but that's exactly what creates the much more controlled typing feel in the end.
Rappy Snappy continuously compares two selected keys with each other and prioritizes the key pressed lower. For example, this can support particularly fast changes of direction for A and D without both inputs remaining active at the same time.
Snappy Tappy expands the prioritization of two keys. In addition to Last Input Priority, different priority rules are available. This allows you to specify which input is registered when the keys are pressed at the same time – or whether both should remain neutral.
With Dynamic Keystroke, several actions can be assigned to a single key, depending on the key path. Up to four actions can be assigned to different phases of pressing and releasing. For example, a key can execute different commands when pressed lightly and completely.
Wootility allows buttons and function levels to be freely reassigned. Mod Tap goes one step further: A button can perform a different action when tapped briefly than when pressed. The desired hold duration can be adjusted per button.
The analog inputs can also be used as controller input. Especially in racing games, this allows finely graduated throttle, brake or steering commands instead of pure on/off behavior. Toggle Key, on the other hand, turns actions into switches: press once to activate, press again to deactivate. This is suitable, for example, for ducking, sprinting or other permanently held actions.
Wootility bundles performance, key and RGB settings in one interface and is available both as an application and browser-based. Rapid triggers, actuation points, remapping, RGB and other functions can be adjusted in detail. Up to four profiles can be saved directly on the keyboard and then used without running Wootility software.
