Keychron K2 HE Resin Edition – Resin Case Meets Transparent Keycaps
A solid resin case and transparent keycaps characterize the character of the Keychron K2 HE Resin Edition. The smooth resin surface with its visible depth and subtle sheen meets translucent polycarbonate keycaps that accentuate the RGB lighting. Anodized aluminum accents complement the appearance. In addition, there are magnetic switches, individually adjustable trigger points and three connection types – in a compact 75% format with an American ANSI-US layout.
The resin case: material with an independent character
The frame and subcase are made of resin, i.e. synthetic resin. The solid construction has a smooth surface, whose depth and subtle shine visually characterize the case. Anodized aluminum accents create fine contrasts. Inside, an aluminum plate in tray-mount construction complements the construction. The resin case is therefore an essential feature of this edition - visible on the desk and noticeable when handling the 1240 g keyboard.
Transparent keycaps: Lighting is part of the design
Above the resin case are transparent keycaps made of polycarbonate, or PC for short. They allow the light of the north-facing RGB LEDs to shine through and make the lighting a visible part of the keyboard. The color-coordinated keycaps complement the look of the case, while their smooth surface and the Cherry profile offer a familiar typing feel. The Resin Edition combines its eye-catching material structure with a key shape suitable for everyday use.
RGB lighting with over 22 settings
The transparent keycaps give the RGB lighting a lot of space. There are over 22 lighting settings to choose from, including static white. A restrained lighting underlines the material character; colored effects put the translucent keycaps more in the limelight. The display can be configured to match the workplace or gaming setup.
Per-Key RGB: Illuminate each transparent key individually
With per-key RGB, the color of each key can be set separately. The transparent keycaps keep such color assignments clearly visible. Movement keys, frequently used working shortcuts or individual key areas can be visually highlighted.
Mix RGB: Two lighting zones with their own effects
Mix RGB allows for two individually configurable lighting zones on the same keyboard. Each zone can use its own effect. This allows different color moods to be combined and the transparent keycaps to be specifically incorporated into the appearance of the setup.
Ideal for beginners
The Keychron K2 HE Resin Edition is suitable for gaming, office and home office. The compact 75% format retains function keys and arrow keys and creates additional space for the mouse. This version uses the American ANSI-US layout with QWERTY key arrangement. The connection is via USB-C, 2.4 GHz radio or Bluetooth. The desired connection is sufficient to get started; button assignments, triggering behavior and lighting can then be adjusted as required.
For IT professionals & enthusiasts
Underneath the striking resin housing is a multi-configurable magnetic switch keyboard. TMR sensors detect the position of each key contactlessly and enable individually adjustable trigger points, dynamic rapid triggers and analog inputs. The open-source QMK firmware, the Keychron launcher and hot-swap for compatible magnetic switches open up further customization options. This allows gaming assignments as well as macros and shortcuts to be set up for everyday work.
Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula Switches
The built-in Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula Switches work linearly and are already lubricated ex works. Their double guide stabilizes the shaft during movement. The starting force is 40 g, the final force 60 g. The resistance increases evenly, without a tactile pressure point. According to the manufacturer, the switches are designed for 150 million actuations.
TMR sensors for every key
Each key has its own TMR sensor for contactless detection of the switch position. TMR stands for Tunneling Magnetoresistance: Changes in the magnetic field are detected by changes in resistance. This allows the keyboard to distinguish how far a key is pressed. The specified magnetic field sensitivity is up to 100 mV/V/Oe.
Individually adjustable trigger point
The actuation point can be set for each key between 0.2 and 3.8 mm in increments of 0.1 mm. A flat setting supports inputs with short key travel. A lower actuation point can help reduce unintentional actuations. For example, motion keys can be set sensitively, while other keys require more conscious pressure.
Last Key Priority and Snap Click
Last Key Priority, or LKP for short, prioritizes the last button pressed when corresponding simultaneous inputs. This supports quick changes of direction. Snap Click, on the other hand, takes into account the depth of operation: If two buttons are pressed at the same time, the lower button is given priority, while the one pressed flatter is reset. Both functions are disabled by default and can be turned on in the Keychron Launcher.
One button, up to four actions
Dynamic Keystrokes, or DKS for short, enables up to four actions on one key. The assignment takes into account different operating depths as well as release. For example, a light press can trigger a movement, while a lower pressure can switch to a race. Further commands can be activated when the key is returned.
Dynamic Rapid Trigger
Dynamic Rapid Trigger aligns activation and reset with the actual key movement. A short upward movement can reset an input; when lowered again, it can be triggered again. This supports fast input sequences and repeated actuations, for example when changing movements in the game.
Analog mode for graduated inputs
In analog mode, the actuation depth is translated into inputs of different strengths. In supported games, for example, this can be used to dose movement speed or acceleration – similar to a controller. The strength of the input depends on how far the button is pressed.
Configuration with QMK and Keychron Launcher
The open-source QMK firmware enables individual key assignments, macros and shortcuts. The Keychron launcher web app can also be used to configure trigger points, magnet functions and lighting. Customization is done directly in the browser. To do this, the keyboard must be connected via USB; current versions of Chrome, Edge and Opera are supported.
2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 5.2 and USB-C
Three connection types allow it to be used on different devices. Up to three devices can be paired via Bluetooth, which can be switched between. This is suitable, for example, for a workstation with a computer, notebook and tablet.
- 2.4 GHz radio with 1000 Hz polling rate via the included USB-A receiver.
- USB-C connection with 1000 Hz polling rate for wired operation.
- Bluetooth 5.2 with 125 Hz polling rate and switching between up to three paired devices.
Designed for fast inputs
The polling rate of 1000 Hz via USB-C and 2.4 GHz radio allows frequent transmission of key status. Together with the configurable trigger points and rapid triggers, the input behavior can be tuned for fast key sequences. N-Key Rollover supports simultaneous button detection both wired and wireless.
ARM microcontroller with 256 KB Flash
An ARM microcontroller with 256 KB of flash memory works inside. Together with the QMK firmware, it enables the programmable functions of the keyboard. The open firmware offers developers and enthusiasts additional options to adapt assignments and processes to their own needs.
Muted keyboard acoustics
The solid resin housing is complemented by several layers of damping inside. 3.5 mm thick EVA acoustic foam, EPDM foam and a PET film help to reduce resonances and vibrations. Together with the factory-lubricated switches, a damped, rich stroke is created that also accompanies longer writing phases comfortably.
Suitable for macOS, Windows and Linux
The keyboard supports macOS, Windows and Linux. A system switch makes it easier to switch between Mac and Windows. In addition, two different operating system assignments can be stored on the keyboard. Matching additional keycaps for Mac and Windows are part of the equipment.
Hot-swappable for compatible solenoid switches
The magnetic switches can be replaced without soldering. Compatibility is limited to matching Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Switches. Gateron Magnetic Jade, Gateron KS-20 Magnetic and conventional mechanical switches are not supported. When changing, it is therefore important to pay attention to the appropriate switch family.
Bolted stabilizers with reinforced sidewalls
Screw-on board stabilizers guide larger keys such as Spacebar, Enter and Shift. Reinforced side panels improve guidance and contribute to smooth operation. Four sets of stabilizers are installed in the fully assembled keyboard.
4000 mAh battery for cordless work
The rechargeable lithium polymer battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh. Keychron mentions a wireless runtime of up to 110 hours. This value comes from a laboratory test; the actual runtime depends on use.
