The Keychron V6 Ultra 8K Banana Switch (CH) combines a full ISO-CH layout with a number pad, flexible connection options and a clearly noticeable tactile typing feel. This makes it suitable for the office, home office and just as well in the gaming setup. If you like to feel a little more feedback under your fingers when pressing a button, you should get used to the Banana Switches pretty quickly. The pre-lubricated Keychron Silk POM Banana Switches have a pronounced tactile resistance and therefore react much more noticeably than linear Red Switches. At the same time, they do without the typical loud click of a clicky switch. Connections are made via 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 5.3 or USB-C. With up to 660 hours of battery life with the lights off, the charging cable also surprisingly often stays where it belongs – in the drawer.
Technically, the V6 Ultra 8K brings a lot to the desk. It works with a polling rate of up to 8000 Hz via USB-C and 2.4 GHz. The polling rate is 125 Hz via Bluetooth. NKRO is supported both wired and wireless. A powerful MCU with 1 MB of flash memory works inside. The keyboard is based on ZMK firmware and can be configured via the browser-based Keychron launcher. Key assignments, macros, shortcuts and lighting can be individually adjusted.
With the Keychron Launcher, the V6 Ultra 8K can be configured directly via a compatible web browser. Keymaps can be changed, macros can be created and RGB settings can be adjusted. A permanently installed desktop software is not necessary for this.
The integrated 4000 mAh lithium polymer battery allows up to 660 hours of runtime when the backlight is turned off. With RGB lighting activated at the lowest brightness level, up to 200 hours are possible. The keyboard can continue to be used while charging.
The V6 Ultra 8K achieves a polling rate of up to 8000 Hz wirelessly via the 2.4 GHz connection. Bluetooth 5.3 also allows the connection with up to three devices. USB-C is available for classic wired operation. Switching between desktop, notebook and other devices remains pleasantly uncomplicated.
A powerful ARM-based MCU with 1 MB of flash memory forms the technical basis of the keyboard. It enables the high polling rate, extensive programming functions and the use of ZMK firmware.
This variant is equipped with pre-lubricated Keychron Silk POM Banana Switches. The tactile switches have an actuation force of 57 ± 8 gf, a travel of 2 ± 0.4 mm and a total travel of 3.4 ± 0.4 mm. The service life is up to 50 million actuations. The stem, upper housing and base are made of POM. The clearly noticeable tactile resistance provides feedback early on when the button is pressed. This makes the Banana Switches particularly interesting for frequent typists and users for whom Brown switches are still a bit too reserved. You simply notice more – without the whole office community having to listen in.
The V6 Ultra 8K is designed for individual adjustments. Switches, keycaps and other components can be changed so that the typing feel, acoustics and appearance can be adapted step by step to your own ideas.
The Gasket mount design combines a flexible polycarbonate plate with multiple sound-absorbing layers. Acoustic foam, PET layers, EPDM foam and additional cabinet attenuation reduce distracting resonances and give the stroke a little more flexibility. Especially together with the powerful tactile Banana Switches, this creates a defined typing feel without the cabinet sounding unnecessarily hollow.
The V6 Ultra 8K supports macOS, Windows and Linux. A system switch can be used to switch between Mac and Windows modes. Matching additional keycaps for both platforms make it easier to adapt to different workplaces.
The OSA Double-Shot PBT keycaps combine an OEM-like height with a more rounded shape that is reminiscent of the SA profile. The double-shot process permanently shapes the lettering. PBT also reduces typical gloss formation during intensive use.
Thanks to hot-swap sockets, the mechanical switches can be replaced without soldering. Most mechanical 3-pin and 5-pin MX switches are supported, including those from Cherry, Gateron and Kailh. If the Banana switches are to make way for linear, particularly light or completely different switches at some point, you don't have to unpack the soldering iron right away.
Bolted PCB stabilizers support larger keys such as Spacebar, Enter, and Shift. They reduce unwanted wobble and are easier to edit for maintenance or custom mods.
The south-facing RGB backlight offers more than 22 lighting effects, as well as static white lighting. Settings can be customized via the Keychron Launcher.
Per-Key RGB enables individual illumination of individual keys. Gaming keys, shortcuts or functional areas can thus be visually distinguished from each other.
With Mix RGB, the keyboard can be divided into two separate lighting zones. Both areas can display different effects – practical for functional areas or simply for those who find an RGB zone too boring.
