Keychron K5 Ultra 8K Red Switch RGB – ultra-slim 8K keyboard in ISO-CH layout
Ideal for everyday life, office and gaming
The Keychron K5 Ultra 8K combines a complete 100% layout with a numeric keypad and Swiss ISO-CH key assignment with a pleasantly flat low-profile design. Despite its full-size format, it remains surprisingly slim at 436.6 × 128.29 mm. The linear Keychron Milk POM Red switches run smoothly and smoothly – pleasant for fast typing and even more so when every input is needed while gaming. A multifunction rotary control takes over the volume control as standard and can be configured for other functions. Three connection types make the K5 Ultra 8K flexible: 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.2 and wired USB-C. Up to three devices can be paired via Bluetooth. If you switch between a work computer, notebook and another device, you don't have to constantly reconnect cables. Windows, macOS and Linux are supported, and matching additional keycaps for Mac and Windows are included.
2.4 GHz & Bluetooth Connection
The K5 Ultra 8K achieves a polling rate of 8,000 Hz over 2.4 GHz. The same applies to wired USB-C operation. This means that inputs are queried up to 8,000 times per second – interesting for fast games and all those who want the lowest possible input delays. Bluetooth 5.2 works at 125 Hz and allows the connection with up to three devices.
370 Hours of Use on a Single Charge
According to the manufacturer, the integrated 2,600 mAh lithium polymer battery achieves up to 370 hours of runtime in wireless 8K mode with the backlight turned off. The keyboard can also be used wired while charging.
Wood Meets Metal
Visually, Keychron takes a rather unusual path: aluminum meets real wood. The combination gives the K5 Ultra 8K an independent character without making it look like a decorative piece on the desk. The top is made of anodized aluminum alloy, while ABS plastic is used for the bottom case. The weight is 720 ± 10 g.
Ultra-Slim, Full-Size Comfort
The low-profile Milk POM switches are only 11.9 mm high. Without keycaps, the keyboard measures 15.55 mm at the front and 19.94 mm at the rear, and the feet have a height of 2 mm. The result: the number pad, function keys and navigation keys are retained without a classically tall mechanical keyboard standing in front of you.
Keychron Milk POM Switch
In this variant, pre-trained Keychron Milk POM Red switches are used. They work linearly without noticeable tactile resistance and require 45 ± 10 gf actuation force. The delay is 1.3 ± 0.4 mm, the maximum total travel is 3.1 ± 0.3 mm. Keychron classifies the noise level as low and describes the characteristics as light and linear - suitable for gaming and fast typing. The stem, upper case and base are made of POM, supplemented by a steel spring. The switches use a 3-pin construction.
Hot-Swappable
Want a different switch characteristic? No soldering iron needed. The K5 Ultra 8K is hot-swappable, so compatible Keychron Milk POM low-profile switches can be swapped out directly. This allows you to tune the typing feel to Brown or Banana, for example.
Intuitive Control at Your Fingertips
The aluminum rotary control controls the volume ex works. It can be assigned other commands via Keychron launcher - such as screen brightness, zoom, brush size, media control or other functions. Especially in productive everyday life, such a slider quickly becomes one of those details that you don't want to miss after a few days.
An Epic Core Inside
An ARM-based MCU with 1 MB of flash memory works inside. The powerful platform enables the 8,000 Hz polling rate over both 2.4 GHz and wired. NKRO is also supported in wired and wireless operation.
Interior Acoustic Foam
There is more than just a circuit board under the keys. IXPE acoustic foam, EPDM foam, PET film and bottom-case foam are supposed to reduce resonances and vibrations. This is especially noticeable when writing for longer periods: less hollow case noise, more focus on the actual Switch sound.
Customize Every Part
The K5 Ultra 8K is designed for customizability. Hot-swappable switches, interchangeable keycaps, programmable keys, RGB lighting, and the configurable knob give you plenty of room to maneuver without having to disassemble half the keyboard and unpack the soldering iron.
Suitable for All Devices
The keyboard supports macOS, Windows, and Linux. Additional Mac and Windows keycaps are included, so the label can be customized to match the operating system you're using.
Low-Profile Double-Shot PBT Keycaps
The flat LSA Double-Shot PBT keycaps are abrasion-resistant and designed for long use. The labels are not translucent. The RGB light therefore appears around the keys and not through the legends.
Program with ZMK & Launcher
The open-source ZMK firmware opens up extensive possibilities for remapping, macros and shortcuts. Buttons and functions can be configured directly via the browser-based Keychron Launcher – no separate software installation is required.
Unlock Dynamic RGB Control
The north-facing RGB lighting offers more than 22 effects as well as static white lighting. The lighting can be further adjusted via Keychron launcher. This ranges from restrained to desk disco – depending on what suits you better.
Per-Key RGB
Per-Key RGB allows the individual color configuration of individual keys. This allows you to highlight important gaming keys, for example, or create your own color schemes for different applications.
Mix RGB
With Mix RGB, the keyboard can be divided into two lighting zones, each of which can use its own effects. This creates much more individual combinations than with a single effect across the entire keyboard.
