Keychron K8 HE White Wood ISO-CH – Light natural wood meets precise magnetic switches
Ideal for beginners
A bright workplace, familiar buttons and more freedom of movement for the mouse: The Keychron K8 HE White Wood combines the Swiss ISO-CH layout with a compact 80% TKL format. Function keys, arrow keys and the separate navigation block are retained, while the number pad is omitted. The fully assembled keyboard is suitable for the office, home office and gaming and can be connected via USB-C, 2.4 GHz radio or Bluetooth. Light wood details and a muted key sound complement daily use.
For IT professionals & enthusiasts
Contactless magnetic switches, TMR sensors and QMK firmware enable targeted adjustment of the input behavior. Trip points, reset behavior and multiple assignments can be adapted to different games and workflows. An aluminum plate, screwed PCB stabilizers and several insulation layers complete the technical equipment. Configuration is done via the Keychron Launcher directly in the browser.
White Wood Special Edition with light natural wood
The white Special Edition combines an aluminum frame with light natural wood side panels. The visible grain adds a warm touch to the bright design. Inside, there is an aluminum plate and a sub-housing made of ABS plastic; the construction uses a tray-mount attachment. Alternatively, the wooden version is available in black with dark natural wood details.
Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula Switches
The linear Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula Switches are factory-lubricated. Their double guide supports smooth and stable key movement. The initial force is 40 g, the final force 60 g. The manufacturer claims a service life of 150 million actuations.
Advanced TMR Sensors
Each button has its own TMR sensor. TMR stands for Tunneling Magnetoresistance: Changes in the magnetic field are detected by changes in resistance and used to determine the indentation depth. The magnetic field sensitivity specified by the manufacturer is up to 100 mV/V/Oe. The sensor technology forms the basis for the adjustable trigger points and the extended magnet functions.
Individually adjustable trigger points
The trigger point can be set for each key between 0.2 and 3.8 mm in steps of 0.1 mm. A short path to the trigger is suitable for fast gaming actions. A lower trigger point can help to reduce unintentional inputs when writing. This allows the response of individual keys to be determined to suit the respective application.
Last Key Priority and Snap Click
Two different prioritization functions are available for processing simultaneously pressed directional keys:
- Last Key Priority: The last key pressed takes precedence.
- Snap Click: The lower-pressed key takes precedence; the lower-pressed key resets.
Both functions are disabled by default and can be turned on in the Keychron Launcher if necessary.
One button, multiple actions
Dynamic Keystrokes allows up to four actions on one key. The assignment takes into account different operating depths and release. For example, a light button press can trigger a walking motion, while pressing deeper leads to a race. Further commands can be executed when released. The specific assignment is defined in the launcher.
Dynamic Rapid Trigger
Dynamic Rapid Trigger controls the release and reset based on the movement of the key. A key can be reset when it is lifted and reactivated when it is pressed down again. This supports fast repetitions and rapid changes of direction because the response is directly adjusted to the movement of the key.
Analog mode for metered inputs
In analog mode, the indentation depth is translated into a variable input. This allows movements or acceleration, for example, to be dosed more finely – similar to a controller. The prerequisite is that the respective game supports corresponding analog inputs.
Programming with QMK and Keychron Launcher
The QMK open-source firmware enables individual key assignments, macros and shortcuts. In the Keychron Launcher, trigger points, magnet functions and lighting can also be configured. To set it up, the keyboard is connected to the computer via USB. The launcher opens in a current version of Chrome, Edge or Opera.
Connection via 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth and USB-C
For the desk, a wired USB-C connection and 2.4 GHz wireless are available via the included receiver. Up to three devices can be paired via Bluetooth, which can be switched between. For example, work computers, private laptops and tablets can be operated with the same keyboard.
1000 Hz for fast input transfer
Via USB-C and 2.4 GHz radio, the K8 HE works with a polling rate of 1000 Hz. In Bluetooth mode, it is 125 Hz. N-Key rollover is supported both wired and wireless and allows you to capture multiple keys pressed at the same time.
ARM microcontroller with 256 KB flash memory
An ARM microcontroller with 256 KB of flash memory handles the processing of keyboard inputs. Together with the QMK firmware, it forms the technical basis for the programmable functions and configuration of the keyboard.
Tuned keyboard acoustics
3.5 mm EVA foam, EPDM foam, a PET film and a silicone pad work together in the housing. The layers reduce resonances and vibrations and support a muffled key sound. The pre-lubricated switches also contribute to a smooth typing feel.
Compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux
The K8 HE supports Windows, macOS and Linux. A system switcher makes it easier to switch between Windows and macOS. For these two systems, different assignments can be stored on the keyboard. Additional Windows and Mac keycaps are included.
Double-shot PBT keycaps in OSA profile
The White Wood Special Edition is equipped with double-shot PBT keycaps in the OSA profile. The material offers a non-slip, grease-resistant surface. The double-shot process permanently integrates the labels into the keycaps. The labels are not translucent; the RGB lighting is visible between and below the keycaps.
Hot-swappable for compatible solenoid switches
The switches can be replaced without soldering. Only compatible Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Switches are supported. Gateron Magnetic Jade and Gateron KS-20 Magnetic Switches are not compatible. For a change, you must therefore pay attention to the appropriate magnetic switch series.
Reinforced, bolted stabilizers
The stabilizers screwed to the board have reinforced side panels. They support a stable travel of larger keys such as Space, Enter and Shift and reduce lateral movement when typing.
RGB lighting with more than 22 modes
The north-facing RGB LEDs offer more than 22 lighting modes. Hue, saturation, brightness and effect speed can be adjusted in the Keychron Launcher. This means that the design ranges from discreet lighting at the workplace to moving effects in the gaming setup.
Battery and adjustable writing angle
The rechargeable lithium polymer battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh. According to the manufacturer, up to 110 hours of wireless operation are possible without lighting; the actual runtime depends on use. Three mounting angles of 5°, 9.34° and 12.43° allow the keyboard tilt to be adjusted to the preferred typing position.
