Design and construction of the IQUNIX F97 (Wired)

The IQUNIX F97 is a compact full-size keyboard with a 96 percent layout, eliminating the spaces between the keys and the less used keys. While the rest of the world of mechanical keyboards seems to be shrinking, IQUNIX 's F97 is here to remind us that even large-format layouts can be outstanding. The body of the F97 is made of aluminum, which gives it a pleasant heaviness that feels premium in the hand.

Upgrades over the IQUNIX F96

The F97 is the successor to the popular F96 keyboard and follows in its footsteps. The differences between these models are more than just superficial, the RGB lighting is much brighter and more luminous. In addition, the F97 received a completely new damping concept. Underneath the buttons, the IQUNIX F97 uses two layers of foam and silicone rings to dampen typing noises while better accentuating the sound of the switches.

TTC Switch Options

IQUNIX has added new switch options from TTC, including Gold Pink and Speed Silver, as well as the usual Cherry MX Silent Red. The excellent TTC switches are all linear and pre-lubricated at the factory to increase smoothness and eliminate scratching and spring ping.

Typing experience of the IQUNIX F97

The typing experience on the F97 is one of the best possible on a pre-built keyboard. The typing resonances have been attenuated, but not excessively, so that you can hear the individual characteristics of each switch. The Costar stabilizers are generously pre-lubricated from the factory and eliminate any rattling or ticking.
